Creative, Inspiring, Fun Drum Circles in Nova Scotia & beyond

moving rhythm “The most meaningful and enjoyable work I do takes place in the center of a circle, when 18 to 200+ people drum for joy.”

It usually goes something like this:

Someone hears about me from someone else who has attended one of my drum circles, or someone who knows someone who did. The potential client phones or e-mails me to see if a drum circle is a good fit for their group. We consider things like: type and purpose of the event, number of participants and who they are, dates and times, and my fee.

For large events or corporate programs, additional information such as course descriptions or promotional material may be helpful.

My fee is based on group size and length of programs. In addition to a facilitation fee, for drum circles outside Halifax Regional Municipality, I include a travel allowance, and room and board (if needed).

When a corporate or community drum circle is booked, I custom design a program, drawing from a menu of drum activities. I always come with a “menu plan,” and often improvise on the plan to match the group spirit. Every drum circle is unique. I arrive on location to set up before the drum circle begins. I bring LOTS of drums and other percussion instruments. In a Tidal Beat Drum Circle, everyone plays. I use a drum myself to facilitate the circle.
Circles of rhythm are created. Musical spirits come out to play. It’s like kids just having fun. Drumming for joy!

When the drum circle is finished, those inspired by the rhythms may tell others, and the cycle starts again. Or the group may have me back to do another circle or to customize group drumming workshops for them.
